TRAIL RIDERS
OPPOSE BID TO TRANSFER HIGHWAY AUTHORITY POWERS TO NATIONAL PARKS
Trail Riders
Fellowship (TRF) Chairman, Geoff Wilson, has cautioned Jim Knight
(Minister for Rural Affairs, Landscape and Biodiversity) that
transferring highway authority powers to National Park Authorities (NPA)
would be like giving the fox custody over the chicken run. Were the
bid successful, the power to apply Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO)
on minor highways would enable some belligerent NPA’s to ban all
presently legal recreational vehicles form National Parks against
stated Government policy .

LEAN GREEN TRAIL
RIDING MACHINE
A new prototype hydrogen-powered motorbike, the ENV (Emissions Neutral
Vehicle), designed by British designers Seymourpowell for energy company
Intelligent Energy; was unveiled at
the Design Museum in London this week. The only emission the hydrogen fuel
cell powered bike produces is water clean enough to drink and it is as quiet
as the low hum of a laptop computer. The TRF welcomes the possibility of noise
free motor vehicles and looks forward to the day when silent motor vehicles
are a practical reality. |

TRAIL DRIVERS MEND THEIR WAYS

wheels for picks, shovels and pry-bars and made tracks for an ancient road
high in the English Lake District.National Green Lane Day is sandwiched
between the frozen ground of winter months and the nesting season of
early spring. National Green Lane Day is an annual event organized
by the Land Access and Recreation Association (LARA) and
recreational motor vehicle user groups. Members volunteer their
labour for green lane maintenance initiatives at many sites across
England and Wales. |
