 Notices in the Countryside

If you get out and about there is a chance you have seen one of our notices on a right of way.

Due to impending changes in the Law we, as mechanically propelled vehicle users, now find ourselves in the position where if we wish to continue using many old roads we must place claims to have them recorded as Byway Open to All Traffic.

This task was originally that of the Local Council, but its a task that even after 35 years they have failed to complete.

So, we are now faced with placing claims to protect the rights that exist and that we reply on to use these routes before, under pressure from other countryside user groups the Government extinguishes them. If we do not claim these routes the Rights for vehicles over many old roads will be lost forever.

An unfortunate by-product of this process is that, By Law we must place a notice at each end of an affected route to inform the Landowner or occupier of our intentions. Countryside users can rest assured that once a suitable period of time has elapsed the signs and associated cable ties will be removed.
